Protecting the 2nd Largest Coral Reef in the World

The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System
also  known as Great Mayan Reef  is a marine region that stretches over 1000 km from the tip of the Yucatan peninsula to Honduras.

Conscious Coral brings awareness about the state of the oceans and these fragile coral reef ecosystems.

We invite YOU to make a difference, both locally and globally.

CONSCIOUS CORAL IS A WAKE UP CALL

Over 500 million years, coral reefs have evolved into some of the most beautiful, rich and diverse ecosystems in the world!

About 25% of all sea creatures depend on coral at some point in their lives.

All life on land, including humanity, depends on a healthy ocean.  Healthy coral means a healthy ocean.

Today, the coral is dying worldwide.

Pollution, acidification, trash, plastic, over-fishing, bottom-trawling fishing, global warming, coastal development and tourism are destroying the last of the globe's fragile coral ecosystems at an alarming rate. Click here for related articles.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is to protect the remaining coral and fish from destruction through awareness and education. We reach out to school children, their families, and to local fishing communities  to raise awareness. We bring long-term solutions and sustainable practices to the local beaches and the coastal waters of the Yucatan. By reaching to you, we hope to bring awareness, and action one person at a time, one community at a time, one country at a time. We all depend on the ocean ecosystems.  And they depend on you.
